Academy (學院)
The Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy (蔡李佛中國武術學院) in Roodepoort, is dedicated to promote quality training in Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛) and Tai Shing Pek Kwa (大聖劈掛) styles. We have ben open since November 1999, and have grown to becoming one of the most successful and well known Chinese Martial Arts Schools in South Africa. We have an excellent Tournament track record in both the South African Chinese Kuoshu Authority as well as the South African Wushu Federation. Our Academy continuous to produce top fighters and forms competitors.
After almost 7 years of renting our premises, we have now moved to our own premises in Witpoortjie, in the West of Johannesburg, South Africa. Our dedicated staff members continuous to promote our style of Choy Lay Fut (蔡李佛) and Tai Shing Pek Kwa (大聖劈掛), and Chinese culture to this country. We have invested allot of money, time and effort into our style and our Academy, and our passion for our art is evident from the moment you speak to any of our instructors.
We would like to see our Academy as a complete learning center where members can get top quality education in Chinese Martial Arts and all related issues. We are proud to host different teachers from time to time, and we welcome anyone who wishes to learn and share our passion.
Our Academy is very involved in the local Chinese community, and will continuo to serve our local Chinese Martial Arts community.
Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu (蔡李佛功夫)
We teach the Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu(鴻勝蔡李佛功夫), as passed down by our grandmaster, master Lee Koon Hung from the World Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Association. With our dedicated instructors, we ensure good quality training to all levels of students.
Tai Shing Pek Kwa (大聖劈掛)
We also offer classes in and Tai Shing Pek Kwa (大聖劈掛) which was brought to our country by Sifu Chow Keung (周強). Master Chow Keung is a very well respected and well known martial arts teacher from Hong Kong. He has taught kung fu to many famous Hong Kong action movie stars, and recently, at his 60th birthday, the party guest list included some of the most famous South East Asian celebrities.
San Shou (Kick Boxing) (散手/ 散打) 
We also offer training in Chinese style kickboxing or San Shou (散手) fighting. San Shou (散手)is the official full contact fighting sport of modern Wushu (武術)which is rapidly growing in popularity all over the world. Our fighters are motivated and dedicated, and has won many San Shou (散手)and kickboxing tournaments. San Shou (散手) fighters may train as often as possible, and are encouraged to work out at the gym, as well as doing allot of roadwork. We compete in many San Shou, Full Contact, Thaiboxing and Lei Tai Tournaments during the year, and our fighters are known throughout SA for their abilities.
Chi Kung (氣功)
Chi Kung (氣功) is a very big part of kung fu training. At the academy, students also learn various forms of Chi Kung (氣功), such as the Baduanjin (八段錦)or "8 Section Brocade" and Lohan Chi Kung (羅漢氣功).
Class times (时间表)
Our academy is open 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. Students may come and train as often as possible provided that they come a minimum of twice a week. Our dedicated staff are always there to assist any members with their training schedules. Class schedule here.
Affiliations (聯繫)
The Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy is affiliated to the South African Wushu Federation (SAWF), the South African Chinese Kuoshu Authority (SACKA) and the Martial Arts Authority of South Africa (MAASA). Under the SAWF, our academy is also a member of SASCOC .
The Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy is also an member of the World Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Association.
Martial Arts Supplies (商店)
The Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy also sell a variety of custom made Martial Arts uniforms, fighting protective gear, books and videos and weapons. We have a fully stocked Supplies shop at our school. We also have our own online, e-commerce website, from which we sell our products.
