Class Fees
Fees and Fee structure
Joining fee, payable on joining or re-joining of the academy in advanced.
R195.00 per person
There after, this amount will be deducted every year in March as an annual affiliation fee.
Monthly membership on 6 month contract, payable on the first of the month in advanced:
Children age 6 – 15 (age next birthday) R 220.00 per month
Teenagers and Adults 16 and over R 350.00 per month
Fee structure for private lesions
You don’t have to be a registered member to book private lessons. Private lesions can be booked with Sifu on any week day between 9.30 and 15.00, or on Saturdays from 10.00 to 13.00. Private lessons are individual classes, unless you choose the option of having a private group class as below.
Private class person per hour:
1 – 3 private classes per calendar month - R190.00 per hour
4 – 6 Private classes per calendar month - R170.00 per hour
7 and more classes in the same calendar month- R150.00 per hour
Private classes will cover both San Shou and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts, and students can choose between these two topics.
Payments for Private lessons will be paid in full in advanced, and if member miss a class without notifying us at least 12hours before the time, he or she will forfeit that class and payment.
Private group class
Members may want the advantage of a private class, but would want a friend of friends to join to ease the financial burden of these classes. Max number of people allowed in a private training session will be 4 persons.
Price per group per hour:
1 – 3 private group classes per calendar month - R500.00 per hour per group.
4 and more private group classes per calendar month - R400.00 per hour per group.
Same terms and condition apply as with private classes above.

What you need
Kung Fu Uniform
If you sign the debit order authorization, you will receive the kung fu uniform for free. If not, you need to buy the Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy uniform that is sold at our academy, for R350.00.
Shoes
Our academy follows a strict official dress code. You need the following shoes for training: Inexpensive, white, flat soled canvas shoes with laces. Normal “ pantsula’ type shoes is ok. Shoes must be white and have minimal writing on. These shoes can be bought at any Pep stores, Shoe City, Mr Price, Jet or any shoe wholesaler. Cost of these shoes are usually around R15 – R30. We do stock imported shoes, however these are not required.
San Shou Vest and San Shou uniform
If you are going to join in the san shou classes, you will have to buy the Black Choy Lay Fut Chinese Martial Arts Academy San Shou Vest from our Academy shop. Presently the cost of these vests are R75.00 per vest. This is compulsory for all members who join the San Shou class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
For those members who wish to compete in the San Shou fighting tournaments, you will have to buy the both sets of San shou uniforms, that is the Black and white san shou fighting shorts, the Red and white san shou fighting shorts, as well as the Red and white san shou training vest.
Optional items (not compulsory to get)
Boxing hand wraps, 10 ounce Boxing gloves, mouth guard, groin cup, Bruise liniment (Dit Da Jow) for conditioning.
Black Long Sleeve T-shirt to wear underneath your kung fu jacket for cold days (Mr Price longs sleeve shirt = R40.00)
